Plans as limits to action, myth or reality?

I have no plans because they limit me. What is the truth?

Sentence

Sheryl Sandberg, COO From Facebook, says "The reason I do not have a plan is because if I have a plan I'm limited to today's options"

Are not plans really good for executives? Sheryl Kara Sandberg (born August 28, 1969) is an American executive, activist, and author of technology. She is director of operations for Facebook and founder of the Leanin.org Foundation. In June 2012, she was inducted into the Facebook Board of Directors. Prior to joining Facebook as COO, Sandberg was Vice President of Global Internet Sales and Operations for Google and participated in the launch of Google's philanthropic arm, Google.org. Earlier, she was Chief of Staff of US Secretary of the Treasury, Lawrence Summers.

In 2012, she was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Since June 2015, Sandberg has valued more than $ 1 billion, for its actions on Facebook and other companies.

Forbes ranks her in number 7 of the most powerful women (2016), number 14 among the women who formed itself, in America, and the 470th place among America's millionaires. Undoubtedly, Sheryl Sandberg knows what she's talking about and why she says something.

Opportunities are only exploited by the prepared minds (Louis Pasteur)

Does Sheryl really disqualify and dismiss plans as guides to action? Not really, only she has practiced and lived before the process of planning and action, which already has it built into her mind so deeply that it seems to be a more routine thinking. She has achieved the insight of planning, feels and understands and updates according to the circumstances.

Imagine a spreadsheet in Excel or another program in which you want to perform a sensitivity analysis. To know the changes in the NPV according to the discount rate, only change the cell value where the rate is, the rest is not modified at all. The new results are achieved in seconds, the construction of the model may have taken many hours.

The initial phrase suggests that the person who acts like this is a CREATIVITY VOLCANO, which captures in every second the signs, signals, indicators, data that suggest something. The POWERFUL NEURONAL NET takes action and finds relationships, links, new solutions, sees new products, innovative services, unexpected answers to problems. And all instantly. In this sense, it is when THE PLANS ARE "LIMITED AND UNNECESSARY" (think in quotation marks). Ordinary people need a guide (something like a guard rail to stay out of the way), a tangible plan.

What is Sandberg's secret? Work, accumulated experience, learning, insight. Simple, right?
